This position Oversees the performance of Claims Legal services functions, ensuring they are performed in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner, and coordinates these functions with other departments. Manages, organizes, schedules, and reviews the workload of the legal services team. Completes employee performance assessments, work management reports, training reviews, salary recommendations, and hires personnel.

Primary Accountabilities
First Line Management / Leadership for Individual Unit (50%)

  • Manages and oversees direct reports, systems, and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with Company policies and practices. Measures, documents, and tracks department efficiency. Prepares and analyzes unit plans and reports.
  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area.
  • Performs administrative activities in a timely manner necessary to effectively manage the unit. Assists management in budget preparation, staffing, future needs, and expense control.
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications.
  • Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance reviews, and establishing development plans
  • Oversees the work product of direct reports for quality and adherence to company philosophies, policies, and procedures.


Strategies Linked to the Division's Business Goals/Results (25%)

  • Establishes, communicates, and implements departmental plans, objectives, and strategies.
  • Participates as a member of the management team.
  • Maintain an active awareness of American Family's business environments, corporate culture, and structure to support key decision making.
  • Establishes goals that support exemplary customer service.


Litigation Support (25%)

  • Oversees litigation support in all phases of the litigation process. Manages the performance of litigation support consistent with division and company goals.
  • Applies knowledge of technology to maximize efficiencies in providing litigation support.
  • Oversees accurate and timely completion of all department services functions and assists when necessary.
  • Leads the resolution of work problems and monitors status of workloads with other department managers.
  • Establishes positive relationships and a team approach to accomplish divisional and corporate goals.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
  • Demonstrated experience in a legal environment or suitable substitute work environment.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds between 33 and 66% of the time.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds between 1 and 33% of the time.
